Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the most common questions about Kaze.

Accounts and login

What is a magic link?
A magic link is a secure, one-time login link that Kaze sends to your email address. Instead of creating and remembering a password, you enter your email on the login page and click the link we send you. Each magic link is unique to you and expires after 15 minutes. This approach is more secure than passwords because there is nothing to guess, reuse, or steal.
I did not receive my login email
Check your spam or junk folder first. The email comes from noreply@mail.kazeapp.com. If you still do not see it, return to the login page and click Send Magic Link again to request a new link. Each new request invalidates any previous link.
Can I use a password instead of a magic link?
No. Kaze uses magic links exclusively for login. Passwordless authentication protects your account from common attacks like credential stuffing and password reuse. You never need to remember or manage a password.
Can my child have their own account?
No. Children do not have separate accounts. Your child accesses Kaze through a device session that you link from your dashboard. You control when and how long your child can use Kaze by managing sessions and setting time limits.
How do I link my child's device?
On your child's device, open the Kaze website and tap Start Exploring. A code appears on screen. In your dashboard, go to Dashboard > Sessions > Link Device, enter the code, and select your child's profile. The device connects automatically.
Is Kaze free?
Kaze is currently in pre-launch and available by invitation only. There will be different plans in the future, but there will always be a basic free tier with limited time and features. Regardless of the plan, Kaze will never show ads or share your data with third parties — even the free tier is safe and private.
Can my child use multiple devices?
Yes. You can link multiple devices to your child's profile. Each device session is independent — you can manage and revoke them from Dashboard > Sessions at any time.

Child profiles

How many children can I add?
You can create up to 5 child profiles per account. Each profile has its own learning preferences, accessibility settings, and session limits.
What is a learning profile?
A learning profile is a set of attributes describing how your child learns best. It includes their learning style, reading level, interests, and accessibility needs. Kaze reads this profile before every chat session and uses it to adjust how the AI communicates with your child.
Can I change the learning profile later?
Yes. You can update your child's learning profile at any time from Dashboard > Children. Select the child, click Edit, and adjust any field. Changes take effect in the next chat session your child starts.
What information does a child profile contain?
A child profile includes the child's name, age, learning style, reading level, interests, accessibility needs, and preferred chat language. You fill in as much or as little as you want. The more detail you provide, the better Kaze adapts.
What ages is Kaze for?
Kaze is designed for children ages 0 to 18. The AI adapts its language, depth, and content to match each child's age and developmental level — from simple, playful responses for young children to more detailed, challenging conversations for teens.

Chat

How does the AI adapt to my child?
When your child starts a chat, Kaze reads their learning profile and builds personalized chat settings that tell the AI how to communicate. Depending on the profile, the AI adjusts sentence length, vocabulary, response format, and topic connections. A child with dyslexia gets shorter sentences and simpler formatting. A gifted child gets more depth and intellectual challenge.
Are there message limits?
Yes. Kaze sets daily and weekly message limits that depend on your plan. When your child reaches a limit, they see a friendly message letting them know they can come back later. You can check your current plan and limits in Settings. These limits are intentional — they give your child enough messages for Kaze to be a helpful companion while encouraging healthy screen-time habits.
What languages does the chat support?
Kaze currently supports English and Spanish. You can set each child's default chat language and the languages they are allowed to choose from in Dashboard > Children > Edit. Your child can also pick a language when starting a new chat.
Is my child's conversation private?
Yes. By default, you see only an AI-generated activity summary of your child's conversations, not the full messages. If you choose to reveal the full messages, your child is notified that an adult has reviewed the conversation. This design balances your oversight responsibilities with your child's sense of trust.
Can my child send images or files in chat?
No. Chat is text-only at this time. Your child types messages (or uses speech-to-text) and receives text responses.

Safety

How does safety filtering work?
Kaze applies four layers of safety filtering to every conversation: (1) PII detection checks your child's messages for personal information like phone numbers and addresses; (2) Topic blocking flags messages that touch sensitive or age-inappropriate topics; (3) A moderation service detects harmful content; (4) All flagged events are logged so you can review them from the dashboard.
What happens when content is flagged?
Flagged content is blocked before your child sees it. The child receives a simple, friendly message suggesting they try a different topic. The event is recorded in the safety log with its severity level. You can review all safety events from Dashboard > Safety Logs and mark them as reviewed.
Can I adjust the safety sensitivity?
Not yet. Kaze currently uses a fixed set of safety rules applied equally to all children. A future update will let you configure custom safety thresholds per child. For now, the safety log records every event so you can track patterns.
What severity levels exist for safety events?
Safety events are classified as low, medium, high, or critical. Low events include messages that are too long. Medium events include attempts to share personal information. High and critical events involve harmful content detected by the moderation service. You can filter safety logs by severity in Dashboard > Safety Logs.
How do I delete my child's data?
Go to Dashboard > Children, select the child's profile, and click Delete. This permanently removes the profile and all associated data including conversation history. You can also delete your entire account from Settings > Data & Privacy, which removes all children's data as well.

Groups

What is a group?
A group is a shared space where multiple adults collaborate on a child's learning. Groups work for families, classrooms, tutoring setups, or any situation where more than one adult needs access to a child's profile and conversations.
What roles are available?
Kaze offers seven roles, from most to least privileged: Owner (full control), Admin (manage members), Custodian (legal custody, can enroll children), Tutor (educational role, can enroll), Teacher (can view enrolled children), Reviewer (can review conversations and safety logs), and Member (basic view-only access).
How do invitations work?
Owners and admins can invite new members by email from the group detail page. Enter the person's email address and choose a role. Kaze sends an invitation email with a link. The recipient clicks the link to accept and join the group. Invitations expire after 7 days.
Can I belong to multiple groups?
Yes. You can be a member of as many groups as you need. You might be the owner of your family group, a teacher in a classroom group, and a reviewer in a tutoring group. Each group has its own role for you.
